GP_Exercise.jpgOn 12th February 2012 an exercise took place in South Western part of Styria/AT for conducting a final testing of this EU FP7 Space project. In the exercise scenario there were missing people in a mountainous area as well as under an avalanche, in other areas there were problems with floods, earthquake, environmental and security problems. The whole system was tested under worse weather conditions(snowfall) - and it was a success according to the feedback of the participating members of “Blue Light organsiations”. Even the head of A20/Government of Styria(Disaster management), HR Dr. Kurt Kalcher was impressed by the system, which was used already during the Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck in January and will be used for the Skiing WM in Schladming in March, possibly the Olympic Games in London, an INSARAG Classification exercise in September in Austria as well as in the prepartion of the Football Games in Brasil 2013/14.

GP_Exercise.jpgOn Sunday 2012 the final test of a two years EUFP 7 Space project, which aims to support assessment and coordination in huge emergencies for the sake of life saving, will be conducted in Styria/Austria. During the exercise ASIGN software will be tested, with which one can transfer georeferrenced photos, assessment results, video streaming and satellite images as small „datapackages“ nearly in real time mode as a preview (to save time and money)via different transfer opportunities to the UNOSAT server in Cern/CH. With that software its for the first time possible to evaluate data, analyse them and put the right measures for life saving in place. At the same time a crowd application will be tested so that everyoe can send first information from on site to coordination centers (e.g. UN/EU). During the development phase the system was already successfully tested and further developed in severe floods in Pakistan 2010, a huge explosion in Cyprus 2011, floods in Thailand 2011, earthquake in Haiti 2011 as well as the Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck/Austria 2012.

qr1.jpg QR code for Asign: This QR code is provided by the GEO-PICTURES project of an EU FP 7 project (http://www.geo-pictures.eu/) . The aim of this project is to develop a software which allows you to take pictures e.g. with an ANDROID smartphone which in nearly real time will be sent back to a server and can be immediately used during disaster management operations.

 Preview.jpg   PAK1.png
You can use it for free (till March 2012). Please scan the QR code with your smart phone(ANDROID with GPS ) and it will be installed.
The application will prompt the user to create/register a user account, and the username for this account is the e-mail address of the user. Each created user will belong to the “EUCP” group on the server. Each user can log on to
http://asign.ansur.no/ using his/her username (the e-mail address) and password to see his/her own photos.
The user provides the username, password and optionally a phone number when he registers from the App.
In order to install the application, he/she must first activate the “allow non-Market applications” under Applications in the Android system configuration menu. This is because the application is not published on the Android Market, but given as a direct download link from the server. Next, he/she should download the free “Barcode Scanner” application from Android Market. Using this application he/she must scan the QR-code. This will open the Android browser application which in turn downloads the application (a .apk file). When the download is complete, he/she will be prompted to install the application. If you have any comments/suggestions - please sent them to a.seipelt[at]juh-logistics.org. Good luck for your testing.
